LAVA to donate 45 laptops to the Middle and High School in Nisyros

With a sense of responsibility towards the younger generation and believing in equal opportunities in education, LAVA S.A., a member of Heracles Group, donated 45 new laptops to the secondary education schools on the island of Nisyros.

True to its commitment to consistently pursue its social work of strengthening the local communities where it operates, LAVA has helped upgrade the technology hardware of the Middle and High School in Nisyros. Thanks to the 45 new laptops, fully equipped IT classrooms will be immediately operational, enabling every student to have access to new technologies and the internet.

Mr. Christofis Koroneos, Mayor of Nisyros, said “LAVA has played a decisive role in the development of Nisyros over the last 60 years. With the latest contract signed in January 2018, it can contribute even more by offering direct assistance to our Municipality and the society of Nisyros. The donation of computers to the students of the Nisyros Middle and High School will help them prepare for the future and realise their goals.”

Mr. Lefteris Christoforakis, HERACLES Group Director of Quarries and Mines, stated: “This donation was driven by the acknowledgement that new technologies help educate and mobilise students to incentivise their active participation. Now more than ever we see it as our duty to support young people and provide them with what they need to pursue their dreams.”

For 65 years, LAVA has been a supporter of the social work carried out by the Municipality of Nisyros, especially in actions involving vulnerable social groups such as children.
